Uganda Projects: AppLab Uganda

AppLab Uganda leverages MTN's network of over 10,000 Village Phone and other Shared Phone Operators to test and deliver mobile information services to rural communities. We are also expanding our reach into rural areas through our Community Knowledge Worker project. AppLab Uganda has developed and deployed applications in the areas of health, weather, agricultural tips and advice, and the agricultural marketplace.

The AppLab team has conducted ethnographic research, needs assessment research, rapid prototyping and a connected notebook trial. These exercises help the Application Laboratory learn end-user needs and guide application development.
